Protecting your environment

Each year millions of empty cartridges are consigned to landfill sites. Quite apart from the questions that this practice raise, it also means that millions more will need to be manufactured, shipped, sold and delivered to replace these prematurely discarded electronic devices.

For some years, enlightened people have been trying to refill these empty cartridges to save on all that manufacturing cost, effort, pollution, transport and distribution resource. Unfortunately, this has often been with little success, both from the standpoint of quality and from an environmental point of view.

Why isn’t this a success?

So far as quality is concerned, ink cartridges are difficult to recharge and state-of-the-art equipment is required, so home-based or local attempts have met with varied success. Therefore, the most successful recharging has, to date, been done in large factories specialising in this as a business.

From the environmental point of view, this is not the success you may think. Such factories may well save many empties going into landfills, but to acquire the empties for recharging, they often transport them great distances with the associated use of fuel and pollution. From that point forward, the supply chain works in the same way as with a ‘new’ cartridge; it must be filled, packed, shipped, often to a wholesaler, and then delivered on to the retailer and finally transported home by the customer.

What’s so different about Cartridge Expert?

Cartridge expert works largely at a local level. We install a machine in a local site and all we need to deliver, from time to time, is ink and some protective tape. This represents a small fraction of the transport requirement of a factory ‘remanufactured’ cartridge.

In addition, we do not need to acquire empty cartridges from the other side of the world. Our customers can walk into their local Cartridge Expert site and have THEIR OWN cartridge recharged in front of their eyes. No shipping – no waiting – no transportation.

What about the machine?

What about the machine?
The Cartridge Expert machine uses unique technology to provide the internal pressures and balancing required to successfully recharge a cartridge. Our technology allows this to take place without the traditional use of costly and power hungry air compressors.

The machine works off standard 13 amp power and as such has a low power consumption requirement. Parts are built to last and over 90% of the machine construction is steel, and 99% of it being recyclable.

What about the ink?

What about the ink?
The ink is high quality water based ink that is non-hazardous. There is little waste and each shot of ink is supplied in a sealed, recyclable container.
